Participatory Participatory City Jury member of Good Practice Distinction in OIDP again

Distinguished Citizen Good Practice

The OIDP "Best Practice in Citizen Participation" and s an initiative of the International Observatory of Participatory Democracy . Through the granting of this distinction is to encourage the implementation of innovative experiences at the local level and disseminate those practices that encourage participation and involvement of citizens in the processes of elaboration and implementation of public policies.

The prize is open to all local governments and supra-municipal entities that are members of OIDP and have promoted citizen participation experience developed in a period less than 4 years in relation to the submission of the application.

The main criteria to be considered are the following:

1. initiatives whose main objective is: to achieve higher levels of equality, the empowerment of citizens, increased efficiency and effectiveness in governance and greater legitimacy and confidence in public authorities.

2. Degree of innovation

3. Portability

4. Feasibility

5. joint planning and participatory practices

6. Stewardship of the various actors involved in the process

7. political leadership of the government team

8. Defined responsibilities

9. Educational Process

10. Impact and environmental transformation

IV Edition OIDP the "Best Practice in Citizen Participation"

occasion of the Ninth International Conference OIDP, held in Reggio Emilia, on 18 November, proceeded to the IV delivery of Distinction OIDP "Good Practices in Citizen Participation .

This year 22 local governments from Argentina, Brazil, Spain, France, Madagascar and Mexico have filed candidacy for. The International Jury ruled in September the Fourth Distinction award to experience "Community Improvement Program Neighborhood" by Mexico City, a decision that was published in under the Ninth Conference.

The International Jury also decided to grant three special mentions to the following experiences:

· Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain): "Participation and Social Development. The foundation of a participatory city "

· Ambalavao (Madagascar): Participatory Budget Analamanga region, where the rural municipality of Ambalavao. Antananarivo.

· Alcobendas (Spain) You're the night Imagine

also within the framework of the International Conference distributed trust among the participants a publication that includes two CDs. In one of them is a brief description of each of the experiences presented and the other is reflected more broadly distinguished experience.

Jury

The jury consists of the Chair OIDP, Technical Secretariat, members Coordinating Committee and co OIDP. The jury is chosen from among the members of OIDP to voluntarily submit to the call by the Technical Secretariat. Thus, the Local Observatory of Participatory Democracy has been called to join the jury both the IV as the V Edition.

According to the Call Bases after a domestic call between members of the network, the V Jury Distinction has been constituted on 23 April 2010.
